REO-100 Plastometer - Termoplastics flow speed index measurement
The aim of MFR and MVR index measurements is to find out basic processing properties of thermoplastics – plastic flow speed, in a maximum fast and cheap way. The knowledge of plastic quality which is going to be used in the production process makes it easier to select technological process parameters (e.g. injection, extrusion), shorten the production time and minimise production preparation costs.
Method – plastic sample is plastified and extruded through a nozzle which has specific geometry in a fixed temperature and precise load. The index value is defined as volume (the MVR volume index) or alloy mass (the MFR mass index) which flows out from an capillary during 10 min. Measurement is done using A or B method depending on the expected index value. Measurement is done according to an ISO 1133 norm.
The REO-1OO Plastometer is a device ready to make measurements by A and B method to get MFR and MVR index. REO-100 is the modern device allowing for fast, easy and repeatable measurements getting. The Plastometer has a controller with a keyboard and a LCD display, assuring easy and pleasant operation of the device.
A device operator can use a plastic catalogue included in the controller and can add new information to it. Message about a current device condition and about activities which should be done by the operator appears on the display. A heating system co-operating with a high-class temperature measurement module is responsible for the temperature stabilisation.
An absolute position converter used in the device assures precise piston speed measurement, which is essential for the B method. As an option Plastometer can cooperate with a PC computer in order to handle data obtained during measurement.
